Fotokasten druckt die Leinwände mit dem Large Format Printing-Verfahren, wobei ausschließlich UV-beständige Tinten verwendet werden. Bei dem Material, das bedruckt wird, handelt es sich um echtes Fineart-Canvas. Es besteht aus reiner Baumwolle und ist sehr strapazierfähig.

Die Leinwand wird immer so aufgespannt, dass das Bild kontinuierlich um die Kanten der Leinwand verläuft. So wird ein dreidimensionaler Eindruck erzielt, allerdings führt dies auch zu einem Bildverlust im sichtbaren Bereich. Daher sollte man kein Foto verwenden, bei dem wichtige Details nah am Rand platziert sind.
Bei fotokasten.de können die Kunden sich eine Leinwand im Quadrat-, im Hoch- oder im Querformat anfertigen lassen. Dabei stehen jeweils verschiedene Größen zur Auswahl. Für die Gestaltung der Leinwand nutzt man bei Fotokasten das Gestaltungstool, das direkt über den Browser ausgeführt wird. Im ersten Schritt wird hier das ausgewählte Foto hochgeladen. Da die Leinwand direkt an dem Keilrahmen aufgehängt wird, bietet Fotokasten kein Montageset an. Im Lieferumfang sind Keile enthalten, die zum Nachspannen der Leinwand dienen. Darüber hinaus bietet Fotokasten seinen Kunden die Möglichkeit, die Leinwand mit einem edlen Schattenfugenrahmen zu versehen, der in Weiß und in Schwarz erhältlich ist. Der Rahmen wird so montiert, dass zwischen der Leinwand und dem Rahmen ein Zentimeter Platz bleibt.
